David E.
Rehabilitation Program Coordinator
Speech-Language Pathologist
As a rehabilitation program coordinator, David is responsible
for organizing the Aegis Therapies team at Golden Living Center –
Petaluma, where he also provides speech-language pathology
services. David has worked for Aegis Therapies since September
2009.
“I enjoy knowing that as rehabilitation program coordinator, I
have the ability, through managing the therapy services, to make a
positive impact on the lives of the short-term rehabilitation
patients and the long-term residents of the facility,” he says. "I
interact with the admissions coordinator and nursing to integrate
our rehabilitation team with the facility and the community."
David looks forward to continued growth with Aegis Therapies,
and believes that being open to learning from growth opportunities
fosters service excellence. He also thinks that honest, open and
constant communication among residents, patients, co-workers, and
managers are keys to promoting quality. “Everyone internal and
external is our customer and deserves our best efforts each and
every day,” he says.
For David, gratification is when a patient regains the ability
to do the simple things many of us take for granted. One patient in
particular stands out. “There was a patient on my speech-language
pathologist therapy caseload who doesn’t speak due to aphasia, a
language disorder from a stroke. The patient was being seen for
swallowing and language difficulties,” David explains. “One morning
I went to provide therapy to this patient during breakfast and the
patient vocally greeted me with a ‘hi,’ which was the first
vocalization we had heard from the patient.”
David enjoys working at the Golden Living Center – Petaluma,
which was named one of North Bay Business Journal’s Best Places to
Work for 2010. “I have an incredible team of therapists and nurses
that I am privileged to work with and I know that every day we are
enhancing the lives of our residents and patients through our
innovative approach to quality patient care.”
